Reviewing Organizational Capacity for Monitoring and Evaluation

Your organization should have the ability to conduct good-quality monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and to use it systematically in reviews of organizational performance. Your organization may or may not contain specialist M&E units or evaluation offices. If you do not have one we will advise you on how to build units with skilled staff in M&E. If M&E unit exists, we can investigate its strengths and weaknesses, including

  • the technical quality of the evaluation report provided
  • organizational motivation and capacity for supplying M&E
  • the M&E skills and experience of staff
  • the organization’s clientele and their feedback on the quality of M&E activities delivered by the organization

On the basis of our analysis we will identify options to address substantive weaknesses.
